Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the QuickSEO — SEO Audit + ChatGPT SEO Chrome extension.

Data Collection

The QuickSEO Chrome extension does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. All analysis runs entirely within your browser.

Specifically, the extension:

  • Does not collect personal information (name, email, accounts, etc.)
  • Does not track browsing history or visited URLs
  • Does not send any page content or analysis results to external servers
  • Does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking pixels
  • Does not write to browser storage of any kind (chrome.storage, localStorage, sessionStorage)

How the Extension Works

The extension loads two scripts into pages as they load — an analysis script and a link highlighter. Neither does anything on its own: on load they only wait for a request from the extension popup.

Analysis. When you open the popup, the analysis script reads the current page's HTML (DOM) to analyze on-page SEO elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, headings, images, links, structured data, and AI crawler accessibility. The analysis runs locally in your browser and the results are displayed in the popup.

Link highlighting. When you open the popup's Links tab, the link highlighter changes how the current page looks: it adds a stylesheet to the page, marks every link with its rel type, and adds a small badge to each one so you can see at a glance which links are dofollow, nofollow, UGC or sponsored. You can switch the highlighting off from the same tab. These are visual changes to the tab you are on, and they are the only changes the extension makes to a page.

On chatgpt.com only. A separate script reads the links contained in ChatGPT's answers as the conversation updates, without waiting for a click, so that the toolbar icon can show how many there are. That count is all it produces, it never leaves your browser, and the links themselves are only shown when you open the popup.

What "no data is retained" means. Nothing is stored and nothing is transmitted: the extension writes no browser storage of any kind, and closing the popup discards the analysis. Highlighting is the exception to nothing changes — but not to nothing is stored: the outlines and badges stay visible on that tab until you switch them off or reload the page, and no record of them is kept anywhere.

Permissions

  • activeTab: Used to access the current page's content when you click the extension icon.
  • scripting: Used to inject the analysis script into the current page on demand when you open the popup.
  • Access to all websites (<all_urls>): The extension registers its content scripts on every site, which is why Chrome asks to "read and change all your data on all websites" when you install it. This is required because the extension is a general-purpose SEO auditor that works on any webpage. No data from any page is collected or transmitted.
  • Background service worker: The extension runs a small background script whose only job is to display the link count on the toolbar icon. It does not read pages, store anything, or contact any server.

Third-Party Services

The extension loads fonts from Google Fonts for UI styling. No other third-party services are used. Google Fonts may log standard web request data per Google's privacy policy.
