How the Shopify integration works

1

Create an app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard

In the Shopify Dev Dashboard, create an app named “QuickSEO”, enable the read_content and write_content scopes, release a version, and install it on your store. Takes about two minutes and never touches orders or customers.

2

Paste your Client ID and Client Secret

Copy the app’s Client ID and Client Secret from its Settings tab and connect them in QuickSEO with your .myshopify.com store URL. QuickSEO stores the secret encrypted and requests a short-lived token from Shopify before each publish.

3

Generate and publish

Write an article in QuickSEO and hit Publish → Shopify. It lands in your store blog as a published article in seconds, and publishing the same article again updates the existing one in place instead of duplicating it.

What lands in Shopify

QuickSEO article fieldLands in Shopify as
TitleArticle title + SEO page title
BodyArticle content (HTML)
SlugArticle handle / URL
DescriptionExcerpt & SEO meta description
TagsArticle tags
Cover imageFeatured image (hosted on Shopify’s CDN)
AuthorArticle author (your store name by default)

Why teams use it

Official Admin API, minimal permissions

Publishing goes through Shopify’s GraphQL Admin API with only the two content scopes — QuickSEO can’t see your orders, customers, or products, and you can uninstall the app at any time to revoke access.

SEO meta filled in automatically

QuickSEO writes the SEO title and meta description into Shopify’s standard global.title_tag and global.description_tag metafields — the same fields the “Edit website SEO” panel uses — so every article ships search-ready.

Updates in place, never duplicates

QuickSEO remembers the Shopify article id after the first publish, so re-publishing an edited article updates the same article. If the URL handle changes, Shopify 301-redirects the old address automatically.

Featured image on Shopify’s CDN

Your generated cover image is downloaded by Shopify and served from its own CDN, so it loads fast and keeps working even if the original URL goes away.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything from the Shopify App Store?

No. You create your own private app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard — the way Shopify recommends connecting external tools since it retired admin-created custom apps in January 2026. Nothing public, no app review, and you stay in control of the credentials.

Which blog do articles go to?

QuickSEO detects your store’s blogs when you connect and publishes to your primary blog by default. If your store has more than one blog, you pick the target blog on the connection card.

What permissions does QuickSEO get?

Only read_content and write_content — blog posts and pages. QuickSEO cannot read or modify orders, customers, products, or store settings, and uninstalling the app from your store instantly revokes access.

Can I edit an article after it’s published?

Yes. Edit it in QuickSEO and hit Publish again — the existing Shopify article is updated in place. You can also edit directly in Shopify admin, though re-publishing from QuickSEO will overwrite those changes.
