FAQ

How often should I update ranking data?

Weekly tracking works best for active campaigns. Monthly is sufficient for maintenance-phase SEO. The Historical Tracking tab is designed for monthly snapshots.

Should I track desktop and mobile rankings separately?

Yes, if possible. Mobile and desktop rankings often differ significantly. The template includes a Device column to track both. Focus on mobile-first since Google uses mobile-first indexing.

How many keywords should I track?

Start with 50-100 keywords covering your core topics. Include a mix of head terms (high volume) and long-tail keywords (lower volume, higher intent). Quality matters more than quantity.

What tools can I use to get ranking data?

Google Search Console provides free position data for your own site. For more detailed tracking, tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, or QuickSEO offer automated rank tracking with historical data.
